The hoods that APR offers are true, full carbon fiber units. The hoods are made using two separate molds. Both the outer skin and the structural support are made using the highest quality carbon fiber material available. Because the hood structure is complete and made from carbon fiber, all the factory-mounting points are retained. The stock hinges and hood latch bolt into the hood correctly so that hood pins are not needed. The carbon fiber hood weighs in at a paltry 12 lbs. This gives the car a 25 lb diet right where it needs it. As any enthusiast knows, improving the weight balance of a car is not usually this easy or affordable.Because the hood is all carbon fiber, it is one of the strongest and lightest available. Besides the strength and weight benefits, the sophisticated look of carbon fiber makes this hood an easy decision. The carbon fiber rear deck-lid is a beautiful piece that adds to the sophisticated look of the Audi A4 and S4. The deck-lid consists of a carbon fiber skin over a fiberglass structure. The fiberglass structure allows the deck-lid to be mounted using the factory hinges and latch so that mounting pins or fasteners are not necessary. The deck-lid has an optional carbon fiber handle that houses the license plate lights. If this option is not desired, then the factory piece can be removed from the original hood and mounted on the carbon fiber unit.
